In this project, Mandy opens the doors of artistic process to anyone who will join her. The beauty of this public project is it's commissioned with Seattle Public Utilities 1% for Art Funds, so not only is it open to us as a public arts project, it's open to be participated in by the public. Here's a rare chance to meet face to face and learn about the person making the very art your taxes pay for; and to find out where that money goes (hint: artists aren't laughing on their way to the bank).
As we push through the month of June, Mandy is wrapping up production for the installation, so I'm encouraging everyone to get out there and help her by crocheting your ass off. This weekend on both Saturday and Sunday, she's going to be at the Olympic Sculpture Park. How can you resist that?! Sculpture park + mountains + blue sky + Mandy and her art?! It's over the top. Do it!
From her calendar:
- 6th of June, Sat, noon – 4 pm, “Celebrating Wildflowers”, SAM Olympic Sculpture Park, PACCAR Pavillion
- 7th of June , Sun, 10 am – 2 pm, SAM Olympic Sculpture Park, outside PACCAR Pavillion (inside if rain), 2901 Western Avenue
- 8th of June, Mon, 11 am – 2 pm, 4Culture Conference Room, 101 Prefontaine Place S.
By the way, I can attest she is an excellent teacher and you will be crocheting whirlpools before you know it.

Hope to see you guys there!

ReplyDeleteHey Sharon!!
ReplyDeleteThank you again, my dear, for your support and enthusiasm for this project. I feel like I have been running a marathon through all these tiny communities in Seattle, and as this aspect of the project is winding down more and more people are wanting to join in. So thank you and hope to see many people these next three days (you to Shaun!)
