Greg Lundgren's Arbitrary Art Grant in Writing

Today, Greg Lundgren wants you to help write about a ping pong ball. On Vital 5's blog he states: "We write the first sentence on our blog, participants write the rest. Your post is your application."

Your post. Is. Your application.

I love this idea. It's the perfect degree of interactivity in real time, taking shape as a blog comment. Over the course of the day, we'll see the story grow, build, devolve, and change shape. Who will win? How will they win? Does it even matter who wins?

This is the best of the bunch, in my opinion. As all Arbitrary Art Grants do, the writing grant presents a level playing field, an equal opportunity for failure, success, participation, fun, and visibility. Somehow, this one just hits the sweet spot even more. I type, I click, repeat again as necessary (or not).

Vital 5 is opening up its story-time commentary, already in progress, from 9-5 today on the website.
