Hiccup, Hiatus, Hurray

Blogging during a Seattle summer is nearly impossible - we Seattleites are usually so starved for actual summertime weather that we tend to run around in manic circles. This year is an epic presentation of a textbook summer. Circles are only getting more frenetic as I try to absorb as much as I can while working full time and trying to crank out work in the studio. At 128 feet a roll (4 and a half done, 8 and a half to go) and skeins upon skeins of yarn, I'm keeping myself busy. More to come on that, I promise.

So I usually leave the link lists to pros like C-Monster, Regina Hackett, and Jen Graves; but I thought I'd give you a list of cool things, not the least among them, what to do in the event of a zombie attack - the scientific method. If your thirst for blood isn't sated, we could go to war at sea. Or you could crawl through the belly of Godzilla, fallen to earth.

Maybe the apocalypse isn't your thing, and you would rather take a tour with Joey Veltkamp through his favourite work at SAM. You might want to read this eloquent write-up on Target Practice by Susanna Bluhm first. I also recommend perusing through Sharon Butler's new photo blog, @Bushwick & Main. And who knows? You might even get inspired enough to borrow art from the Art Lending Library and put some on your wall. And when you're done with that, go see Emily Pothast sing a song or two. Or you can watch Helsinki Syndrome perform the Importance of Being Ernest - you have two chances left and tonight they're at Crawl Space gallery!

And lastly, most magically, tonight is Lullaby Moon. They are mysteriously suggesting to look for them along First Avenue in downtown Seattle, beginning about 7:45. Absolutely dreamy.

And me? I'll either be running around soaking up what's left of summer so I have something to get me through the winter, or feverishly sewing through miles of paper while hummingbirds serenade me from the back yard.
